Cool Retro Neon Sign; Starlite Room in Studio City
We have lots of stars, star-makers, and starry-eyed dreamers in here Los Angeles, and lots of cool retro neon signs celebrating all of them.
This vintage neon sign has a huge red star surrounded in red neon, with white letters, and a huge swoop with yellow lightbulbs, over the Starlite Room bar on Moorpark Street near Tujunga. Depending on who you ask, it is either in North Hollywood or Studio City or Tujunga Village. Either way, this little corner of the valley has lots of fun retro neon and signage.
I like the big yellow swoop surrounding the star. I wonder if there was an arrow at the bottom of that swoop at one time. I don’t always get to see this sign it up, but even in the daytime, it certainly has star quality!
Update: According to ThePatch, this establishment has been sold, and is now the Starlite Cantina. “The family that took over the Henry’s Tacos location on the corner of Moorpark and Tujunga in Studio City has just bought the 57-year-old Starlite Room next door and plan to turn it into a sports bar.” Read the full Patch article here…
The new sign is an updated, yet retro neon version of the original.
Thank you for your nice note, it’s nice to know someone is out there!
