The annual Perseid Meteor Shower will be easy to see this year with a new moon and clear skies, starting on Sunday and continuing through the week.

On Tuesday, you can also see the planet Mercury, also in the east just after sunset. Here’s a cool link to the Los Angeles Griffith Park Observatory with lots of info on stargazing.

The Perseid Meteor shower was so named because it appears to originate from the Constellation Perseus in the east, named for the Greek hero Perseus.
